Celebrating a Canadian Classic

When Calgary bartender Walter Chell created the Caesar cocktail in 1969 he surely couldn’t have predicted its enduring popularity.

Inspired by the flavours of spaghetti alle vongole, Chell’s concoction of vodka, tomato juice, clam nectar, and spices quickly caught on across the country. Today, Canadians reportedly drink more than 400 million Caesars annually and celebrate the spicy cocktail each year on National Caesar Day, the Thursday before the May long weekend.

We’re celebrating National Caesar Day all month long with ideas for hosting a build-your-own Caesar bar featuring our Hot Dilled trio - the life of the party in Caesars and more.

Beyond Caesars these pickles bring a piquant punch to cheese and charcuterie boards, picnics, sandwich platters, and simple snacks.

And our Hail Caesar gift box is the perfect gift for the Caesar aficionado in your life!

Whether you like your Caesar fully loaded or prefer a more restrained approach, check out all the  tips and ideas on our recipe page.
